As Independence Day nears in the United States, independent’s day began a few days ago and looms large for a long time courtesy the extended era of upcoming Uranus - Pluto squares. The first square occurred on the 24th and the pattern of seven of these aspects continues through St. Patrick’s Day, 2015. Cantankerous Uranus, hell bent on asserting personal individuality, faces off with Pluto, lord of the underworld and hidden resources (like gems and oil beneath the Earth’s surface). As well, Pluto prevails over matters of passion and the quest for determining the ultimate meaning in life, hopefully before the cusp of death.
Here’s a date line of the upcoming Uranus square Pluto patterns, the dates noted according to GMT.
June 24, 2012 Uranus direct, Pluto retrograde.
September 19, 2012 Uranus retrograde, Pluto stations direct the day before the square.
May 20, 2013 Uranus direct, Pluto retrograde.
November 1, 2014, Uranus retrograde, Pluto retrograde.
April 21, 2014, Uranus direct, Pluto retrograde, the day after Jupiter in Cancer aspects both, Pluto by opposition from Jupiter, Uranus by square.
December 15, 2014, Uranus retrograde (stationary direct seven days later), Pluto direct.
March 17, 2015 Uranus and Pluto direct (Pluto retrogrades just short of a month later).
That’s it, though through the first half of 2017, it could be said they remain in orb of the square.
Does it matter which planet is direct and which is retrograde? Usually it does. But with the quirky nature of Uranus typically bringing an unexpected manifestation and the potential of Pluto to pull a card out from a sleeve or perhaps an even scarier location, perhaps it’s best to avoid the urge to hedge bets in these patterns.
While preparing this post I pondered: Does Pluto favor or oppose a plutocratic consensus reality? Regardless, will he work with offbeat Uranus for the best options possible?
Certainly many astrologers forecast political upheaval, controversy and rebellion. While possibly overstated, we will witness and endure globally impacting political events. Yesterday the Supreme Court of the United States commenced a busy week by overturning most of Arizona’s highly charged and uber-controversial immigration law, SB1070. While evidently a victory for human rights, presumably pleasing Uranus, politicians on both side of the issue said they won and held the agenda upperhand, evidently reaching out to Pluto.
Last week the Court restricted the ability of unions to assign funds to political campaigns. Yesterday, they refused to take a second pass on the unlimited corporate contributes ruling, Citizens United. Evidently the justices took Pluto’s “more money is more magical” corner on this ruling and whether seen as a plus or a minus for humankind, seems to depend on where you come down on the issue.
Later this week the Court promises to rule on the controversial health care bill, which is a feeble attempt to bring the United States to a minimal parity with most nations in the world regarding health care. Those favoring this law brace for impact, fearing the Court will overturn the law.
However, if the court mandates the government cannot force health care on citizens in any manner, can this argument be extrapolated to oppose all the laws mandating forced procedures and techniques surrounding the abortion issue and recently instated by many states? True, the legal point is not the same. But still, in this pattern Uranus does ask Pluto, “How much say so do you think you have? Are you willing to take that to Jupiter’s court? He works with Eris, you know, and can reverse the order of the heavens to turn things his way. Remember, the best laid plans of mice and men can be waylaid by Uranus and Pluto.” Indeed, backfiring may become the norm instead of the exception in overly contrived plans, though the ultimate outcome make takes its time appearing.
By the time this pattern is said and done in 2015, no doubt a series of laws will be passed, politicians will be elected, dictators will assume power and doctrines will be invoked that affect virtually every person on the planet. While both planets involved in this ongoing square pattern are considered “transpersonal” and more collectively oriented, a personal call to action is set in motion as these squares solidify. Does that mean you must become politically active? No. But it does mean that you must energetically foment the energies ahead to produce a personal land you can claim as natural and friendly to your spirit.
Personal decisions of major life import linger in the air for many, at least according to my clients. These decisions are most likely to be based upon where you decide to come down on a critical life issue, at least according to the logic and rationale surrounding the matter. Where do you desire to come down? Can you actually manifest the desire decision platform, or do the regulations you perceive dictating your life create psychic interference? What does following your passion declare as a verdict for the crossroads immediately forking up your road ahead? Is the desire dharmic? Sure, the perfect landing point may be difficult to justify, so try the following questions on for size.
Is your landing point good for you? A question for the Aries transit of Uranus.
Is it good for all concerned? A question for the altruistic Aquarian association of Uranus.
In an uncertain economy, will your life decisions successfully apply all your inner resources, and provide a means for all material needs to be satisfied? A question for Pluto’s era in Capricorn.
Are the things you reach to obtain - tangible and intangible - suited to your best path in life? A question for Pluto himself, who while known to be quite a hoarder of the riches of his realm, generously gave to those he favored.
Here are a few ideas that may ease the way forward during the Uranus-Pluto patterns.
Uranus unconditionally offers:
We are all on this planet together. Treating the planet with respect is imperative.
Protesting may polarize the opposition. Try understanding the opposition before attempting conversion. Seek common ground first.
Kindness and respect work better than vitriol.
Intelligent thinking consists of the ability to process data in linear/logical ways and maintaining the clarity to follow abstract arcs as well.
Apply the Golden Rule that considers how you would feel if...
Pluto persuasively proposes:
Hoarding is not the answer.
Greed works against the best plan.
If an Internet site demands too much information, your e-mail and your current location, step back from it to preserve your privacy.
Naivete is not innocence. Remain unassuming and trust your guts.
Apply the platinum rule that following the personal incarnation agenda trumps all.
We survived Jupiter and Saturn to Uranus and Pluto, though doomsayers predicted we would not. We shall also survive Uranus to Pluto. Will there be disruptions and set backs? Yes, and probably for all persuasions of politics, religion and cultures. The highest goal of Uranus to Pluto seeks to enlighten humankind to the point within differences that sameness can be perceived, and ideally the consciousness of the planet inches ahead.
The best results are more likely if Saturn to Eris is implemented as part of each individual’s consciousness substrate sooner than later... as in now. Simply, find your fit, infuse body with soul, merge spirit with life activity. That's being truly independent. People fulfilling creative visions, ingenious ideas, altruistic aspirations and applying evolutionary standards tend to solve problems best.
Finally, next week Mars leaves Virgo behind after an extended stay. Bear in mind that this is not a particularly hospitable combination. Great effort must be applied to manifest the interpretive labels of harmonious effort, cooperation, compromise and negotiation and peace and harmony.
